Singapore And The U.S. Enhance Cooperation On Environmental And Climate Protection

The Singapore Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) and NOAA on April 15 signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance bilateral cooperation on environmental management and climate protection.

Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and NOAA Administrator Rick Spinrad, Ph.D. and Singapore Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Ms. Grace Fu signed an MOU to enhance bilateral cooperation on environmental management and climate protection in Singapore on April 15, 2024.. The MOU was signed in Singapore by Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Ms. Grace Fu and Undersecretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and NOAA Administrator Rick Spinrad, Ph.D. 

Under the MOU, both sides will strengthen cooperation on a range of environmental and climate issues, including climate monitoring and prediction, coastal science and modelling to support coastal protection and flood resilience efforts, earth observations for environmental monitoring and heat resilience.

The MSE, including its Statutory Boards — the National Environment Agency, PUB (the national water agency) and NOAA will also conduct technical exchanges, information sharing and joint publications and projects under this MOU.

MSE works alongside its three statutory boards — the National Environment Agency (NEA), PUB (Singapore’s National Water Agency) and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) — to achieve this mission through innovation, technology and vibrant partnerships with the private, public and people (3P) sectors.
